30th October Fund Raiser organised by our volunteer Mr Simon Whipp
The Live Music will be provided by Nine Mile Road - a four piece Rhythm and Blues band, supported by Green Light - a guitar duo. Both acts will feature guest musicians. There will be a cash bar for drinks and snacks. The evening will include a raffle for three lovely works by a local artist and (possibly) some genuine Zambian jewellery. All of the musicians and the venue are providing their services absolutely for free - so that 100% of the door money will go towards a girl's dormitory for Nsobe Community School in Zambia. The 2021 Gower Yomp will took place on 11th of September at Oxwich Bay and accommodation had been secured for 13 people at Bronllys farm. The detailed map was published on the website and all participants were also notified individually.
Last years Gower Yomp raised funds for the 1st safehouse for girls named Rhossili House because that was the area of the Gower we walked.
This year's Gower Yomp will fund a second Safe House and will be named Oxwich House as reminder of another Gower area of outstanding beauty.
Meanwhile the Nsobe Community School organised a 5K run in conjuction with the Teacher Aid Gower Yomp
Although 2020 most of the events planned had to be postponed due to Corona virus (Covid-19),
however, our Greek Evening was very successful and we were very lucky for the prearranged date
the 7th of March 2020 and have just missed the Covid-19 lockdown.
Our annual Gower Yomp on Saturday 12th of September 2020 was a great success and 30 supporters of
Teacher Aid and at the same time Nsobe Community School walked at the
bush surrounding the school campus.
The 2020 Gower Yomp, was aimed to raise funds for a Safe House for vulnerable and abused girls attending the school so they can carry on with their education.
The safe house is nearly complete and hopefully will be ready to accommodate the girls in May 2021.
